We are very happy about volunteer support ....

. Whether you're dreading retirement, would like to try out old craft techniques, enjoy photographing museum property, just want to get some more fresh air or explore our inventory .... If you are interested, we look forward to receiving your mail at info@roscheiderhof.de

Here you can get involved, for example ....

The Roscheider Spinning Circle:
We took the occasion of Sheep Shearing Day 2021 to demonstrate the sorting and washing of raw wool and to invite interested spinners to a spinning circle in the afternoon. At the very first meeting, 10 women came together with spinning wheels and hand spindles, some with a lot of experience, others with less. So there was a lively exchange and one learned from the other. The inspiring group has therefore decided to meet regularly at the open-air museum. Further comrades-in-arms are very welcome.
Ora et labora - planting and tending a vineyard:
In the summer of 2019, the ecumenical men's group "ora et labora" planted a vineyard between the house from Niedermennig and the house from Oberemmel and erected a dry wall in front of the vineyard to support it. The vineyard now has to be tended regularly, which we hope will be possible again in larger groups after the corona period. We hope for the first harvest in 2023 at the latest. Further projects are being planned for the long term.

Maintenance of the herb garden and other gardens:
Our gardener is happy to have your support. Currently (2021), our herb garden, in which mainly medicinal plants grow, is being tended by volunteers and its concept is being further developed. Permanent care is also needed for the rose garden and the farm gardens in the Hunsrückweiler and next to the Saargauhof, which were redesigned in 2020 and 2021 respectively and in which we grow historical vegetable varieties. In addition, a small poor people's garden next to the barracks and a valorisation of the grounds below Haus Stein are planned for the future.

In addition to the lovingly tended gardens, there are also many interesting and sometimes rare plants growing in our outdoor area which have settled on our grounds themselves.

Digitisation and inventory:
Get to know our collection. Thousands of objects are waiting to be photographed and described in the exhibition buildings, the furnished houses and the magazine. From agricultural implements to clocks, from the tools of the shoemaker to the equipment of the cooper's workshop - anyone who enjoys getting to know something here is very welcome. For our doctor's and dentist's practice we would be happy to have a doctor and a dentist with the appropriate expertise. We work with museum-digital.de and make all entries that are publishable via museum-digital, the German Digital Library and Europeana available to the public free of charge.

Tractors and other large equipment:
Who has fun with old agricultural machinery. Among our large-scale equipment, various treasures are waiting to be turned into showpieces again. Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to find a working group on this topic, but what is not can always be....
